How to transfer money at BPI Online via QR Code
Last May 31, 2019, BPI has announced that they will begin charging transaction fees for online money transfers, starting this July 1. Transaction fees will be imposed for those who transfer money online to other banks and unenrolled BPI accounts (except if via QR code). Although it will only cost 10 or 50 php per transaction, it will still cost a lot if you usually do several transactions per month. Since according to BPI they will waive the transaction fees for a limited time if we use their QR Code feature, let’s learn how to do it while it’s still FREE.
First off, let’s learn how to generate the QR CODE.
You need to do these steps if you are the RECEIVER of money at a BPI online transaction.
1. LOGIN to your BPI Online Account. You can login either through their website (https://online.bpi.com.ph/portalserver/onlinebanking/sign-in) while using your desktop or laptop, or their mobile app using your phone.
2. Go to OTHER SERVICES. It is found on the menu or left portion of the screen.
3. Click QR GENERATOR.
4. Choose the ACCOUNT which needs a BPI QR Code. Then, indicate a NICKNAME for that account. If for example you’re using it for your online business, you can indicate the name of your online store in the nickname section. If you’re just using this feature for personal reasons, you can literally put just your nickname in it.
5. Click GENERATE. It is found on the lower part of the screen. Your very own QR Code will appear. SAVE THIS IMAGE to your device and you’re good to go. You can reuse it and send to anyone who needs to transfer to your account, so they wouldn’t incur some transaction fees.

1. Open your BPI Mobile App. Then, click TRANSFER via QR.
2. Choose between SCAN QR or IMPORT QR from Gallery. Choose scan if the receiver’s QR Code is in another device or choose import if it’s save in the gallery on the device you’re using.
3. Key in your LOGIN details or use your fingerprint login in order to proceed.
4. Now, you just need to CHOOSE YOUR ACCOUNT where the money will come from and the AMOUNT which you need to transfer. No need to key in the receiver’s bank account number since it’s automatically populated because you use their BPI QR code.
5. Click NEXT and follow the necessary security checks such as One-Time-Pin (OTP) Request, if applicable. Then, you’re done. You’ve successfully transferred money via BPI QR Code.
Here are some perks of using BPI QR Code when transferring money online:
- Fast transfer for as long as you already have the BPI QR Code. Just import or scan it, then you’re as good as done.
- Minimize human error brought by manual encoding a wrong account number.
- This is a good feature which small online businesses should use. Why? You only need to send an image of your generated QR code to your buyer, and they’ll be able to transfer money to you, without actually knowing your account number.
